In 2013, Val Hoyle voted to raise taxes on hospitals and nursing homes. According to a press release from the Alec Skarlatos Campaign, "Val Hoyle failed to realize that these costs would be passed to seniors and families across Oregon, and today the cost of healthcare and prescription drugs has steadily increased, with prices expected to rise again in 2023."
